Measurements of renal vein plasma renin activity in right renal artery stenosis.
The figures in brackets are the renin concentrations in peripheral blood samples taken simultaneously. For a diagnosis of haemodynamically significant right renal artery stenosis, the renin level in the right renal vein should be markedly higher than the level in a synchronous peripheral blood sample, and there should be no gradient on the left side. Additionally the ratio between the left and right renal vein plasma renin activity should be greater than 1.5: 1.
